ADDING ADDITIONAL SESSIONS TO CLASSES DESIGNED FOR KIDS AGES 8 TO 12

Beginning Knitting for Kids (Ages 8 to 12)

Date:  Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 4:00 to 5:00
Saturday Nov. 13, 2021 2:00 to 4:00

Instructor:  Priscilla Breese

Fee:  $15.00 Yarn, knitting needles and button Included for kids. (Adults will need to purchase their own supplies which are available at the shop.)


This class is for kids (and their parents, if they want to join).  We will use the Continental Style of knitting, which is the preferred method for new knitters according to the Craft Yarn Council.  Students will learn to cast-on, the knit and how to bind off.  If they have a cell phone, they can use YouTube to review as they work.  The result will be a bracelet made to their size.

Fee:  Fee:  $15.00 Yarn, crochet hook and button Included for kids. (Adults will need to purchase their own supplies which are available at the shop.)

This class is for kids (and their parents, if they want to join).  We will learn chain and the single crochet stitch and how to weave in the ends.  If they have cell phone, they can use YouTube to review as they work.  The result will be a bracelet made to their size. 

Beginning Knitting for Adults

Dates: Tuesday, September 21 & 28, 2021
Time:  6:30 to 8:30

Instructor:  Priscilla Breese

Fee:  $15.00 includes yarn – knitting needles can be purchased from the shop if needed

This class is for the adult that has never knit before.  Participants will learn to knit in the Continental Style which is faster than the English Method of knitting.  You will learn to cast-on, bind-off, the knit and purl stitch and how to read a pattern.  The result will be a dishcloth with enough yarn to make two more for practice when you go home.

Materials Needed:  Size US#7 single point needles

Knitting In the Round
(
GOOD REVIEW IF YOU HAVEN’T KNIT IN A WHILE)

Date:  Tuesdays, October 5 & 12

Time:  6:30 to 8:30

Instructor:  Priscilla Breese

Fee:  $15.00

In this class the participant needs to know how to knit and purl and cast-on. (We can help if you need a review.)    Knitting in the round required circular needles or Double Point Needles.  Participants will learn to join for knitting in the round, how to switch to DPN how to add the stem and leaves by reading a chart and how to do a decrease stitch and weave in ends.  This can be adapted from toddler to adult sizes. (We have other choices of hats if you are not fond of this one.)

Materials:  1 skein DK weight yarn, US#4 – 16-inch circular needles, US#4 DPN needles, stitch markers, scissors, yarn needle and measuring tape.  

Beginning Crochet for Adults

Fee: $20.00

Participants will learn the chain stitch, single crochet, and turning your work. By the end of the class, you should have the knowledge to make a dishcloth or the start of a blanket.

Materials: One skein of crochet 100% cotton yarn in a light color (Recommended yarns – Dishie *which we have at the shop* Sugar ‘n Cream, Peaches and Cream, or similar) and a size H/8 crochet hook or larger if desired. Crochet stitch markers are helpful but not necessary

Making Socks with Double Point Needles

Date:  Saturday, November 13, 2021    

Time:  10:30 to 12:30

Instructor:  Victoria Boehmer

Fee: $25 includes pattern


Need more socks?  Learn to knit your own socks on Double Pointed Needles.  Students will learn sock anatomy at the same time they create cozy socks!

(Participants should know how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.)

Materials: 1 skein sock yarn or fingering weight yarn and US 2 or 3 set of DPNs (at least 5)

Snowflake Headband

Date:  Saturday, November 13, 2021

Time: 1:15 to 3:15

Instructor:  Victoria Boehmer

Fee:  $25 includes pattern

Materials: About 100 yards of DK yarn and US 7 / 16” Circular Needle

Making Two Socks at a Time with the Magic Loop

Date:  November 30, December 7 & 14

Time:  6:30 to 8:30

Instructor:  Jen Kemery

Fee:  $25.00 includes pattern

Don’t want to lose your needle at a football game down through the bleachers?  Magic Loop is a technique for working in the round that avoids the use of double pointed needles. Using longer-than-usual circular needles, you can knit projects even with very small circumferences, like wee little socks, crowns of hats, cuffs of sleeves… the list goes on!  This is a great follow-up to learning the basics for making socks with DPNs. 

Materials:  Finger weight yarn, US#1 Circular Needles

December Class at the Tybout House

Make a Snnowman Ornament with Wet Felted Balls for Kids & Adults

Date:  December 4, 2021                 

Time:  2:00 – 3:00 or until done

Instructor:  Priscilla Breese

Fee:  $8.00 (will include materials – additional kits will be available for $5.00)

Just in time for Christmas, a cute little felted craft that you can quickly make for gifts for your teachers, friends, and relatives.  Make a bunch to put on your own Christmas tree.
